Drug Uses
Ortho Tri-Cyclen contains a mixture of estrogen and progestin hormones, which is used for preventing unwanted pregnancy. It may also be used for regulation of the menstrual cycle, for healing symptoms of menopause, or curing of other conditions as recommended by your doctor.
How Taken
Ortho Tri-Cyclen comes in pills to take orally. Then take one pill a day, the time interval between tablets should not be more than 24 hours. It is prescribed to take the pills at the same time daily (e.g. before bed, with a meal, or first thing in the morning). If you take your drugs at night, this can reduce nausea or headache that you may experience while taking birth control pills. Avoid missing pills or starting the pack late. The more tablets are missed the higher the risk to get pregnant. You may have spotting, light bleeding or you can feel sick to your stomach during the first 13 packs of tablets. You shouldn't stop taking drugs if you feel sick. This side effect regulary goes away. If it persists for long, you should consult your physician. If you find it difficult remembering to take the pill at the right time, you should discuss with your physician the use of another birth control method.
Additional Information
Before Ortho Tri-Cyclen is recommended, you will have to be examined by your doctor. Tell your doctor your medical history. You should be re-examined at least once a year. Do not miss appointments with your healthcare provider, as it is best to determine any side effects at an early stage. This drug has to be used only for the purpose it has been recommended. Ortho Tri-Cyclen doesn't protect from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
